Failed to install .Net framework 3.5 features in Windows Server 2012.

This is a known issue that most of the time the Server manager Roles and Features installation wizard throws error while installing .Net framework 3.5 features.

How to Fix it:-

  1. Open the windows Server 2012 installation media and copy the “sxs” folder under Sources folder to your local disk.
  2. As stated in the error report, run the Roles and Features installation wizard and select “specify an alternative source path” and point the source to sxs folder on your local disk.

Here you go…. The feature is installed successfully!

Hope this post saved your troubleshooting time… 🙂

    • Hi Dayal,
Try through Server Manager- Roles and Features installation wizard, select “specify an alternative source path” and point to the sxs folder.
Automating the task will only pick setup files from default location unless otherwise specified.
